Wrong exit

Today, I was driving on the expressway when I just happened to get off the wrong exit of my destination. The exit I was supposed to get off on was a couple of exits up. At that moment, I felt worried since I wasn’t familiar with that part of town. When I got off the exit, I noticed that I couldn’t get back on the expressway. Since it was the holidays, there wasn’t anyone in sight for miles I could have asked, “Which way to my destination?” At that point I felt a fear being lost since I had taken a wrong turn. Sometimes, being lost can cause you to have a negative spirit as well worry and stress yourself out. As I approached the red light, I pulled myself together and told myself that: “As long as I believe that I’ll find my way, I will; and to simply trust that God would lead me to my destination.” Come to find out, as I drove down the road a little more, I realized that the wrong turn I had taken was really a shortcut to my destination. It then dawned on me that sometimes we take wrong exits through: Relationships, Marriages, Jobs, Wrong crowds, and Wrong Decisions. But, just because we take these wrong turns we shouldn’t stop believing that we are not going to make it to our design destination. God will use you even when you’re lost! He will use your wrong turns as the experience to guide you in life, so that you will know which roads not to take. I believe that many people stay lost because they stop believing that they will make it to their destination by trusting in God. Always have faith and know, Wrong turns, teaches right paths!

The Slingshot Affect

It’s a fact in life, that there are some things that will come into our individual lives that will pull us back, set us back, hold us back, and even take us back. Whether these things are wrong relationships, bad decisions, or careless thinking; they all have a tendency to cause an uncomfortable feeling within.

From that I take the simple Slingshot to posse that God uses painful things that pull us back, set us back, hold us back, and take us back; as a driving force that will actually propel us to an even father distance in his purpose.

If you aren’t familiar with a Slingshot it is a forked stick with an elastic band attached for shooting small stones. In order to shoot the small stones if at all far, you have to pull back with such a force that projects the stone a considerable distance.

I believe Philippians 1:12 states it best when Paul wrote, “But I want you to know, Brethren, that the things which have happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel.”

Romans 8:28 states, “and we know that all things work together for the good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.”

We must understand that it is the continual pressure that actually projects and not postpones us; it is the continual pain, hurt, tears, and unbearable sorrow that are similar to the rubber band that is contained on a Slingshot. It is not made to be held, but to be pulled back long enough that it would be driven enough to go a distance it wouldn’t go without being held back.

Therefore, we know that the storms only come to past and not stay with us.

Today, I write this in while in great pain, not in a sickness or infirmity, but from a longsuffering perspective; I believe that I’m a stone inside of God’s Slingshot, being prepared to propel into my destiny. I take the pain of this world as a rubber band that will propel me into destiny. Therefore, I proclaim to you that your suffering is not in vanity, but for a weight of Glory that no earthly man can steal.

“We are prepared by pain, and propelled by God.”

Value Yourself

WHEN OUR VALUE IS NOT KNOWN - WE WILL BE MISUSED.

If we don't know our value – we should learn the Word of GOD; because no one on earth knows us enough to determine our true value. GOD is the only Ruler of the earth, and only HE can measure our value.

Three things happen when we question our value:
1. We become discouraged.
2. Our faith begins to decline.
3. We began to imitate what feels comfortable (People).

Sometimes, there will be discouragement because of our circumstances. But! we should be encouraged that we have a greater value that our present circumstances can’t compare with.

Which is: life and knowing who we are and whose we are.

Where we stand in troubled a circumstance, is not always where we stand as an individual.

A long time ago, I will never forget a life altering remark a wise man of GOD made to me. While I was struggling with my identity trying to figure out whom I really was. He said to me,

"Terence, you're a mighty man of valor, you will be great, and stand before nations!”

“Mighty?”

I said to myself not thinking very highly of myself at the time:

“Valor"? "Me?" “Nations” Why? I thought.

At the moment, I didn't look mighty. I didn't feel mighty. I didn't even know what valor meant at that time. I just figured that valor meant something excellent because he was smiling when he said it!

As a great man of God once said, "Before You Invest - Investigate", I needed to examine exactly what he was calling me BEFORE I was to believe it. I searched the scriptures for the word, "Valor” and this is what I found:

When Gideon was faced with what appeared to be a task too great for him to achieve; the Angel of Lord appeared to him and said, "The Lord is with you, mighty man of valor." (Judges 6: 12)

Before the Word from the Lord came to Gideon, he had no idea of his value. He, like us on many occasions, believed that he had to fight the battle with what he could see in the natural (circumstances). We like Gideon, have to be reminded of the Value of the Lord's Army (people) and the Value of HIS investment inside us. Whatever battle we try to fight in our own strength, we'll lose every time.

Just because we cannot see GOD does not mean HE is not there with us. Just because we can't hear GOD, doesn't mean HE is not there listening to our prayers. Just because we cannot smell GOD, doesn't mean that HE isn't there ever-knowing.

GOD is omnipresent - HE IS EVERYWHERE AT THE SAME TIME!

Jesus has guaranteed us that: "Lo, I will be with you always."

We should never forget the VALUE of our Almighty Companion!

Remember,

“True value is found inside out, not outside in.”
